Someone has waved a magic wand over the Saracens Head, the canal-side pub at Halsall. The last time we went, which wasn't too long ago, we couldn't wait to leave - it was crummy. We've just called in for a drink and it's amazing. Chandeliers, gorgeous furnishings and drapes and the kind of smoky grey walls that look very expensive and the wooden floor is the one I wanted for my kitchen! We were slightly put off by the fact that young children were running around behind and in front of the bar but having see the lunchtime menu, we'll definitely return.
