I'm quite loyal to my usual supermarkets so very rarely cross the threshold of Lidl. But we saw an advert for whole geese at £14 each and went along to stock up. While there I spotted all the beautiful German chocolates and biscuits that you find on the stalls of Continental Christmas markets - but for a fraction of the price - marzipan logs covered in chocolate; Advent Calendars; Gingerbread houses........ so I was able to snap them up and sort a few Christmas presents out for sweet-toothed friends. My husband bought a bottle of red wine for £2.99 that was ideal for last night's coq-au-vin. I'll report back on the goose after Christmas.
